One of the key lessons of this decade is that remote working is here to stay. The change this brings means that the office must evolve – or will we no longer need a workplace at all?
On the theatre stage at the Work Culture Festival, award-winning interior designer Alexander Fehre shared his perspective on the issue. According to him, the classic office, which only takes into account the basic needs of employees, has become obsolete. It needs to be replaced by much more complex workplaces that not only support new forms of collaboration, but also make culture and belonging tangible. Alexander Fehre used three projects from his interior design practice to demonstrate the wide range of possible implementations and how playful design experiences can create a sense of identity. Fehre believes that the current changes in workplace design, which can also be seen at ORGATEC, provide a good basis. However, the workplace of the future will have to go one step further and be even more people-centred. The focus must always be on creating the best conditions for good performance. The benchmark must be: spaces that are worth living in.
