Vo Trong Nghia founded VTN Architects in Vietnam, with offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The firm integrates nature, traditional Vietnamese building methods, and contemporary design principles to create ‘Green Architecture’. Their projects seamlessly incorporate lush vegetation, complex bamboo trusses, perforated blocks, cooling water systems, and thatched roofs, merging local culture with modern design aesthetics. Under Nghia’s leadership, VTN Architects has garnered over 150 international awards for pioneering green and bamboo architecture work, including recognition by the World Economic Forum, World Architecture Festival and Dezeen. Nghia has lectured at academic institutions worldwide, including Harvard University, Columbia University and Cambridge University. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto and a Visiting Professor at Yale University and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Nghia holds a degree from Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan and a master’s degree from the University of Tokyo, where his thesis earned him the Furuichi Kimitake Prize in 2004. He later completed his PhD in Architecture at Waseda University in 2022.
