When people think of Smudo, they automatically associate him with the German rap group Die Fantastischen Vier and songs like ‘MfG’ or ‘Die Da’. But Smudo is more than that: at ORGATEC, Thorsten Giersch spoke to him about ‘The Voice Kids’, artificial intelligence in the music business, sustainability in motorsport and, of course, Die Fantastischen Vier.
When asked about the success of Die Fantastischen Vier, Smudo emphasised the value of solidarity, but also the need to go your own way. Regarding his criteria for the German version of The Voice Kids, he cited the interplay of vulnerability and a story, coupled with skill, as important prerequisites for success in the music industry. Smudo sees artificial intelligence as a valuable ‘little helper’. But the really great ideas of tomorrow will probably remain the domain of humans for a very long time. The musician, entrepreneur, racing driver and pilot opened up new perspectives on climate and environmental protection for festival visitors in connection with his commitment to sustainability in the field of racing: He made it clear how many approaches there are to ensure greater sustainability. Technology is an important key to this, as are creative incentives and experiments.
As a bonus, Thorsten Giersch and Smudo gave an interview for the podcast DUP Unternehmer. The unabridged German version of the interview can be found on the DUP YouTube channel. A detailed summary of the on-stage discussion is available in the IBA Forum Newsroom.
