Supported by Sound: Why Music Can Make the Workforce Thrive

“In the workplace of tomorrow, speficfic sounds can not only enhance workplace well-being but also assist individuals in reaching higher levels of concentration. Music proves to be a versatile therapeutic remedy, offering support for conditions spanning from pain and depression to strokes and stress. Music is increasingly acknowledged as a crucial factor in the healing process and stress recovery.”

In his talk, Walter Werzowa delves into the transformative power of ‘healing sound’. In his talk, Walter Werzowa delved deep into the transformative power of sound. Music has many effects on the human body. It can not only evoke moods, but also stimulate the production of endorphins or influence the heartbeat. The use of sound in medicine and therapy ranges from reducing stress to treating pain or epilepsy. The composer and music producer, best known for his collaboration with AI on Beethoven’s 10th Symphony and his work on the score for Minority Report, spoke about his work with doctors and neuroscientists. His talk also dispelled the common notion that music is always a distraction at work. Research shows that listening to purely instrumental techno music, for example, can boost creativity. Walter Werzowa sees general potential for the use of music in companies in communal areas and to support recovery periods.
