The multiple crises of our time and their impact on people were the opening topics of the discussion between New Work expert Michael Trautmann and the ‘psychologist of the nation’, Stephan Grünewald. The founder of the rheingold institute and author of bestsellers such as Wie tickt Deutschland and Die erschöpfte Gesellschaft spoke about the forces that bind us together and the important role of companies in times of uncertainty. Both speakers emphasized the positive effects of working from home in terms of autonomy and self-efficacy, but also the potential disadvantages of working remotely: social isolation, self-exploitation and obstacles to team processes. According to Grünewald, it is therefore important to develop a “corporate magnetism”. He sees potential for this in the design of rooms, among other things.
