Acoustics planning with OFML data
A special application for OFML data is the acoustics plug-in. This extension of pCon.planner PRO (as of version 6) combines the planning of office furniture with the calculation of the acoustic parameters of rooms.
The plug-in and expansion of the OFML data enable the following information that is relevant for acoustics planning to be
- Room volume
- Surface data (size and location/arrangement of the perimeter surfaces and the furnishings)
- Sound absorption properties of the surfaces (in octaves)
directly exported from the furnishing plans.
A specifically programmed Excel tool makes it possible to estimate the reverberation time for further processing. It thus enables planners to calculate the most important value for the acoustic planning of office rooms and to determine the potential for optimizing acoustic comfort.
Alternatively, the data can be imported into the acoustic planning software CadnaR for making further calculations and conducting simulations.
The main advantage of the acoustics plug-in compared to the customarily used acoustic planning tools is that it combines the planning of the furnishings with the calculation of key acoustic values. The plug-in does not require users to register the furnishings all over again. Besides saving time, it enables the information from the estimation of the reverberation time to be taken into account when the furnishings are planned. This prevents any possible weak points in the planning.
