We see infrastructure as a management tool.
Businesses today are evolving at a rapid pace. The role of spaces and buildings in supporting dynamic change is often neglected.
In their presentation, Katrin Mercsanits and Michael Wiebelt took festival visitors through four working scenarios to illustrate what the perfect interplay of people, organisation and space could look like.
1. FUNCTIONAL scenario
A company like an experienced orchestra. Each workspace is adapted to the function people perform in the company. This allows everyone to concentrate fully on their role.
2. ACTIVITY BASED scenario
The working world for high performance with demanding, changing work content. Employees are supported by coordinated, flexible spatial resources and optimised work processes.
3. CONTENT BASED
At the centre of this working world is the perfect home base for the team. Work is primarily carried out in collaborative processes. Flexibly configurable workspaces are therefore important, where project teams can design their own working universe.
4. PURPOSE-BASED
This world is about working together for a cause. This requires premises that encourage creative and autonomous working methods. Company boundaries become less important, and the focus is on purpose-driven forms of collaboration that integrate a wide range of actors through platforms. Different workplaces are used as hubs.
