Eight tips for planning your interior

We have a few tips for you.

  1. In the future, you will probably need more space for communication and cooperation than before. You should therefore check whether you can make more intensive use of previously little-used spaces such as entrance areas. If you plan to increase the ratio of employees working from home, you may be able to reduce the number of desk workstations. However, you should not eliminate too many workstations. Being able to come to the company at any time and find an available workstation there is also a sign of appreciation.

  2. Check which requirements can be combined. Informal communication can also take place in the canteen or in a waiting area, and the video conferencing room is usually suitable for a short meeting of a small number of people.
    –––
  3. Try to plan spaces so that they can be changed. For example, if you want to divide a large conference room into smaller rooms for video conferencing, you can install a flexible partition instead of a brick wall.
    –––
  4. Also, think about good lighting and good acoustics when planning communication areas. Light sources must not be reflected in laptops or tablets. Think about shading options as well. Good acoustics are a prerequisite for good hearing. This is especially true in rooms that are also used for video conferencing.
    –––
  5. It can be very efficient to hold meetings while standing. But please remember to offer a seated option for each type of communication as well. This enables participants with a walking disability to take part without any problems. Sit-stand tables are space-saving because they can be used while sitting or standing.
    –––
  6. Think about hygiene in rooms that are used by many different people. It’s not necessary to sacrifice a home-like design here. Most materials are now also available as easy-to-clean surfaces.
    –––
  7. To enable colleagues who work from home to see when a room is available, you need a suitable booking tool. Special software linked to sensors is available for this purpose. However, it may be sufficient to keep the bookable areas in a shared calendar.
    –––
  8. If your premises are not sufficient to achieve everything you actually need, you may be able to share the respective resources with a neighbouring company. Or perhaps there is a co-working area near you that offers appropriate spaces that you can rent as needed.
