Working Group Technology Overview
OBJECTIVE
The Technical Working Group aims to actively shape the technical and normative framework conditions of the industry and to effectively represent the interests of IBA members both nationally and internationally.
Through strategic coordination and professional exchange, it creates a reliable basis for safe, ergonomic and sustainable products.
DESCRIPTION
The IBA Technical Committee is the communication platform for technical issues in the industry. Member companies coordinate their positions in national and international standardization projects and represent common interests in relevant committees.
The focus is on exchange with testing institutes and professional associations, the practical application of standards, and discussion of new ergonomic and technical product developments. The Standardization Coordination Working Group coordinates the work of experts from member companies in the standardization committees.

New DIN 66084: Tests now also
possible on original seat shells

DIN 66084:2026–01 Classification of the burning behaviour of textile upholstery composites and textile upholstery composite prefabricated parts has been published. This means that tests can now be carried out on original seat shells instead of standard seats.
Currently, 335 products have been certified. (As of 11/25)

Establishment of new
DIN NA 001–02-08 Room Acoustics

The two most important standards for room acoustics in offices, DIN 18041 and VDI 2569, are now being worked on by a separate standards committee. The revision of DIN 18041 is currently underway and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
