The work landscape is transforming at an unprecedented pace, bringing significant implications for the workplace of tomorrow. However, the tools available to workplace managers and architects are still rooted in outdated concepts. Could the modern workplace benefit from innovative, truly human-centric installations that promote inner balance and team spirit?
Robert Thiemann asked designers Philip Schütte, Nino Basilashvili and Lars van Vianen and art curator Viviane Mörmann about their daily routines and personal strategies for dealing with stress. The panellists shared their teams’ stress management strategies and discussed the relevance of current office trends. Instead of structuring offices and their workspaces according to activities (activity-based working), they advocated organising them according to intellectual requirements. Together with Robert Thiemann, the four design and art experts discussed further measures to reduce stress and strengthen team spirit: maintaining shared routines, allowing personal freedom to realise one’s own projects, consciously taking into account the dimensions of time and movement and, above all, strengthening self-confidence.
