23 project partners in a total of seven EU member states have been awarded funding by the EU Commission for the ‘R‑evolve’ project proposal on the circular economy for furniture. R‑evolve has set itself the goal of defining and testing methods for increasing the lifespan and recyclability of furniture. These include higher reuse and recycling rates, circular design, screening methods for used furniture, basic requirements for the Digital Product Passport, extended services for furniture, regional networks for maintenance, repair and reuse and a draft for product category rules for furniture.
The panellists described the upcoming elements of the project, which will prepare a “green” and social path to the circular future of the industry, first in the partner countries and later in other EU states. The aim is to develop concrete support for companies based on a shared vision and to test this for its practical suitability over the four-year duration of the project.
